Hosted and Guided Trips

Hosted trip – opening week on the Umba River 2016!

I am hosting the opening week on the Umba River from August 27th to September 3rd. Some of the best fly fishing, I have experienced on this legendary Atlantic salmon river has been in late August/early September. There is a new operator on the river, and this is a one time and unique offer. You will get a big discount; 650 EUR of the regular price making it 3,100 EUR for the week. You will also get 7 full fishing days (6 is standard for most operations). We will only be 6 rods at the lodge for the opening week – as opposed to 10 rods on regular weeks. Plenty of pristine river to be explored and pools to be rested! The hosted trip is organized in cooperation with Roxtons www.roxtons.com, a well-known UK operator. I know the river very well through my years fishing there, so you will be in able hands. Join me and the chance to catch sea-liced autumn salmon! Send me an email jandelaporte@gmail.com or PM (private message via Facebook) with any questions and pre-trip info. For more Umba images, clickhere

Golden Dorado in Argentina – hosted trip

I collaborate with a local Argentinian operator in the northern part of the country; home to the feisty Dorado and some of the largest wetlands in the world with incomparable wildlife. You will be enjoying gigantic steaks, Malbec red wine and some of the hardest takes imaginable on a fly rod. Top local guides with boats and even fishing from the river bank in some places with very clear water. I will be hosting a trip(s) in the winter 2016, when it is grey and miserable in Europe etc.!, so get in touch, if you have Golden Dorado on your bucket list or want an incredible adventure. Combine this with tango and great restaurants in Buenos Aires and maybe a visit to World Heritage Site Iguazu Falls and you’re in for a treat. See “Pictures” on this website for more images on this superb destination.

On a business trip to Copenhagen, Southern Sweden and want to go fly fishing? Sea run brown trout/sea trout in Denmark and Southern Sweden – guided trips

I have fished for sea trout on the fly rod exclusively for over 10 years now, caught many (+300) and lost some monsters. My local waters are the coastline of Zealand, where Copenhagen is located, and Southern Sweden. Amazing to think that we have really great fishing for sea trout in every direction from our lovely capital and all within a 1 hour drive! The network of very skilled sea trout fly fishers I have built up over the years is big, and I would have no concerns having them take you out for a great day of fishing, if for some reason I can’t. If you are in Copenhagen on business for couple of days this could be the perfect outing for a day. Note: this kind of saltwater fly-fishing is never going to be super easy, 2-3 sea trout is a good day on any day, blank days do occur, fish over 6 pounds are infrequent, but chances for a 10 pounder are always present.

Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia – guided trips

Fantastic chalk streams, crystal clear freestone rivers, unbelievable hatches, selective giant grayling and trout on the dry fly, great food, comfortable lodging, mild weather, friendly locals…. Sounds good? I have been going to the Balkans for fly-fishing for 6 years now, and I keep going back. If you are not expecting to hook and land large numbers of fish, but rather dig the tough challenge of very selective big fish- and also want to enjoy all the other aspects of an ‘exotic’ fishing trip, e.g. culture, food, people, nature - you should definitely fly fish the Balkans.
